100th Post

My current mantra: Keep Calm and Carry On. Smile and Act Nice.

The last few months have been challenging for me.  Balancing all my responsibilities, keeping myself in check and in control.  Don't get me wrong, I am not always in control but constantly trying to make up for the times where I've failed myself.  Losing weight and keeping it off is difficult.  You have to learn to control your emotions, adjust your behaviors accordingly, and be honest with yourself when you don't do what you know you should do.  No one is perfect.  It's not about being perfect, but it's about reflecting on the issues you've had in all aspects of your life where you could improve your actions.

Taking action is the only way to do it.  Proactively create your environment to be supportive of your goals.  I have done this by tossing all the things in my cabinet that aren't nutritionally healthy.  Thinking through the week about what I will be eating and what I have to do to prepare myself to stay on track is key.  Scheduling my gym times... Scheduling my gym time, and starting tomorrow, scheduling both my gym time and my church time.  I am going to attend weekday Mass at my parish church, which I've never attended.

Turning new leaves here.  I need God closer to my home and my heart.  With this 100th post, I am thankful for all the blessings God has bestowed upon me.  By August 27th, I will be able to practice as a Counselor Intern in a private practice, working with people struggling with weight loss and obesity issues.  I am blessed to be able to do this work.  My gratitude goes out to my supervisor, Kris, my former classmate and colleague, Micah for encouraging me along the long application process, Andre, the owner of the clinic, my family, my friends, and my wonderful fiancee who has been patient with me through this process.

Today's Self Care Indulgence:  A pedicure with chair massage!  I felt like a new person.  $22

Tomorrow's Spiritual Care:  Mass at Holy Spirit Church at 8:30AM

Tomorrow's Physical Strengthening and Wellness:  Anytime Fitness - Gym Time! 9:30AM - 11:00AM  15 minutes of stretching, 45 minutes on the elliptical & 30 minutes of strength training

Through him, all things are possible.
